01. PRACTICE
Painting memory, atmosphere, and lived experience
Each painting begins as a personal memory or feeling I want to hold onto. I build up layers of texture and colour, then pare them back, trying to capture something words can’t, a quiet mood, a flicker of light, the presence of a place or a figure. I love how a painting can hint at a story without having to explain everything. My hope is that these abstract and figurative works from Ireland resonate with your own experiences and find a place in your home.
02. PAINTING
Colour, texture, and emotional presence
In the studio, I work mainly in acrylics, slowly laying down and scraping back layers until the surface feels right. For me it’s not just about what you see on the canvas; it’s about how the structure, texture and atmosphere can hold a feeling. I’m fascinated by how a painting’s material presence can convey emotion long after the brushstrokes have dried.
03. THEMES
Memory, stillness, figure, and place
Throughout my practice I circle back to memory, stillness and the traces of human presence. In some pieces grief and atmosphere take centre stage; in others the focus shifts to landscapes where weather, distance and the marks we leave behind carry their own emotional weight. These recurring themes give the work a sense of continuity while leaving space for you to bring your own associations.
04. PROJECTS
Selected works and current directions
My projects weave between figurative, abstract and landscape‑based painting. Lately I’ve been exploring how memory and atmosphere can travel from one form to another, letting a landscape influence a figure or an abstract passage evoke a place. Each series grows out of research and reflection — a slow testing of what needs to be revealed and what can remain hidden. I hope you enjoy discovering where these directions lead.
